A movie quiz does not have to be multiple choice. Couchmood's quiz of the day takes two to three minutes and tests two things at once: whether you know a film and how quickly you can recall what you know. Here is how it works. Below you will find three sample questions you can try right here in the text.
How the quiz works
Every day there is a theme, for example “Characters and their trademarks” or “Films and their cast”.
Then come seven questions. Each one is about a keyword from a film or series, such as a character, a title or a person.
For each keyword, ten to twelve terms fly past one after another. If one belongs, you tap “Match!” or press Enter or the space bar. Several terms can match.
A hit earns 100 points plus a speed bonus. A wrong tap costs 100 points.
If you do not know a keyword at all, you can skip the round without losing points, on a computer also with Esc.
From question to question, you get a little less time per term.
At the end you see your points, your rank among everyone who has played today, and for each question what you caught and what you missed. You can share your result as a grid of squares, similar to Wordle, without giving away the answers. A new quiz arrives every day at midnight your local time.
Trophies
If you get at least three hits without a wrong tap on one question, you win a trophy. There is at most one per day, for your best question. Over the year you collect towards levels: bronze from 10 trophies, silver from 50, gold from 150, platinum from 300. Every year starts a new season, and the cups from earlier ones stay.
Three sample questions to try
Here all the terms are shown at once. In the quiz they come one by one, in random order and with a timer bar. Read the list, decide which ones match, and only then look at the answers.
How do you spot Indiana Jones?
The keyword comes from Raiders of the Lost Ark. These terms fly past: lightsaber, fedora, magic wand, whip, eye patch, leather jacket, bowler hat, monocle, satchel, cape, guitar.

What can Spider-Man do?
The keyword comes from Spider-Man from 2002. The terms: flying, climbing walls, invisibility, shooting webs, heat vision, spider-sense, teleportation, breathing fire, super strength, time travel, reading minds.
Who's in Titanic?
Here the film itself is the keyword: Titanic from 1997. The terms: Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Julia Roberts, Kate Winslet, Tom Hanks, Billy Zane, Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Kathy Bates, Nicole Kidman, Matt Damon.
Answers
Indiana Jones: fedora, whip, leather jacket and satchel. Lightsaber, magic wand and eye patch are trademarks too, just of other characters.
Spider-Man: climbing walls, shooting webs, spider-sense and super strength. Flying and heat vision belong to Superman.
Titanic: Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Billy Zane and Kathy Bates. The other names are stars of the same era who are not in this film.
Four out of four on all three questions? Then you are ready for the real quiz, just with less time to think.
Tips for more points
Read the question first. It stays the same all day, only the keyword changes. “Where is it set” looks for places, “Who's in it” looks for people. With the question in your head, you decide faster.
The decoys come from the same category. In a cast question every term is an actor, in a powers question every term is a power. So it is not enough for a word to sound like film, it has to fit exactly this keyword.
Speed counts, guessing does not. A fast hit is worth up to 150 points, a wrong tap costs 100. If you are unsure, let the term pass.
Skipping is free. If you do not know a keyword at all, jump straight to the next question instead of guessing.
