In his homeland of Alagaesia, a farm boy happens upon a dragon's egg -- a discovery that leads him on a predestined journey where he realized he's the one person who can defend his home against an evil king.
Eragon is a classic young-adult fantasy adventure: a farm boy, a dragon as companion, a threatening realm and plenty of flights over wide landscapes. The film moves briskly and in a straight line, with few pauses and familiar genre patterns. Its appeal lies in the bond between rider and dragon and the fun of discovering a new world, not in depth or surprise.
Good for you if you like fantasy with dragons, swords and magic and want an uncomplicated adventure for a relaxed evening.
